Drinks that will make you feel like you’re on holidays

It’s going to be a beautiful Spring weekend! With Uni assignments and work, it can be hard to find time to getaway. So why don’t you try these refreshingly easy drinks that will make you feel like you’re on holidays?

Blueberry Mojito

Ingredients 

  • 1 Cup Fresh Blueberries
  • 120ml Rum
  • 10 Fresh Mint Leaves
  • 2 Teaspoons White Sugar
  • Juice of 2 Limes
  • 180ml Club Soda
  • Ice Cubes

Method 

  1. Blend or muddle blueberries until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Use a muddler or wooden spoon to blend in mint leaves and sugar.
  3. Stir in rum, lime juice, and blueberry mixture.
  4. Pour over club soda & ice. Gently stir.
  5. Garnish with extra blueberries,lime, and mint if desired.

Strawberry Chamomile Paloma

Ingredients

Chamomile Honey Syrup

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1-2 chamomile tea bags

For the Drinks

  • 90ml fresh grapefruit juice (about half of 1 grapefruit)
  • 2-4 tablespoons chamomile honey syrup (depending on your taste)
  • 60ml tequila
  • 4 fresh strawberries, sliced
  • sparkling water, for topping off
  • crushed ice

Method 

Chamomile Honey Syrup

  1. Combine water and honey in a small saucepan and bring to a low boil
  2. Simmer for 1 minute and remove from the heat
  3. Add tea bag cover and steep for 5-10minutes
  4. Remove the tea bag and allow the syrup to cool completely
  5. Store in the fridge

For the Drinks

  1. Add the grapefruit juice, chamomile syrup, tequila and strawberries to a glass
  2. Push the strawberries down until they release their juices and are lightly smashed
  3. Add a handful of ice and add sparkling water
  4. Stir and add chamomile syrup to taste
  5. Garnish with fresh chamomile flowers and strawberries

Strawberry Mint Gin & Tonic

Ingredients

  • 2 large strawberries, stems removed and halved
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 4 small mint leaves
  • 45ml gin
  • 1 lime wedge
  • 120-180ml tonic water

Method

  1. Place strawberries, sugar, and mint in a mason jar or tall glass.
  2. Muddle to combine.
  3. Add gin and juice from lime to strawberries. Mix.
  4. Fill glass with ice.
  5. Pour tonic water into glass.
  6. Stir all ingredients together.
  7. Serve immediately, garnished with a strawberry

Minty Watermelon Cucumber Margaritas

Ingredients

  • 2-3 cups cubed watermelon
  • 6 slices english cucumber (about half of the cucumber), skin removed
  • 120ml white agave tequila
  • 1/4 cup fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 2-3 tablespoon agave nectar, or to taste
  • 6-8 fresh mint leaves
  • watermelon slices and fresh mint, for serving

Method 

  1. In a blender, combine the watermelon, cucumber, tequila, lime juice and agave
  2. Blend until completely smooth
  3. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer
  4. Add the mint to the bottom of two glasses and muddle the mint using a muddler
  5. Fill glass with crushed ice and pout the watermelon mix over the ice
  6. Gently stir to combine
  7. Garnish with a water wedge and fresh mint leaves

Peach Wine Slushy

Ingredients 

  • 2 cups cold fruity white wine
  • 2-3 medium peaches, blanched, peeled, frozen, and sliced
  • sliced peaches for serving

Method

  1. In a blender, combine the wine and peaches. Puree until smooth.
  2. If the mixture is too warm and liquefied, place it in the freezer and stir every 30 minutes until a perfect slushy texture forms.
  3. You can make these in advance and defrost for 15 minutes at room temperature before serving. You can also double the recipe and use the entire bottle of wine to serve 4.
